He my girlfriends tank has become infested with small pinky white worms. There are hundreds of them floating around the tank and settled on the glass and decor. Does anyone know what they are and how to get rid of them? They have reproduced really fast there was no sign of them a few days ago.

Please help. I've never had a problem like this before.

They're not planaria. They're nematodes. They won't hurt anything. Just feed lightly and they will decrease in number and probably colonize your filter. I only see mine after a rinse my filter sponges and turn the filter back on. They grow in number when excess food is available to them. Or if you're the daring type you can try a medication to kill them, but that won't be necessary in most cases. Check in your gravel and under your decorations for piles of rotting food or dead fish. Those are often what sparks a populations spike of these worms. They are rather good canaries and pretty good to have in the tank.

Thanks for the help mate. I'm glad it's nothing nasty! We'll have to take the wood out for a good gravel vac and clean the filter.
