So just a few minutes ago I was cleaning my tank, did it very thoroughly, took out the rocks and driftwood to clean the gravel. A few moments later when dirt was swirling around my tank, I noticed small living beings, I would think they were some kind of worms, very thin, about 1cm long "thread like" worms, floating around the tank, not a lot of them, but a few. I have seen them before, a couple years ago, back then there were a lot of them, much more than now, but since the fish were healthy I didn't let them bother me.

I'm just curious, what might they be? Some kind of parasites?
Could they be transmitted to people? (this question entered my mind when my hand was in the tank among the worms)

I know photos would be ideal, but I think they are way too small for my camera to get any focus on them, they're so thin.
If it's any help, my tank consists of central and south american cichlids.

Thanks! I guess it's planaria, I have been feeding a lot for the past couple of weeks, but changing water according to how much I feed. (50% 2x a week)

have you ever fed blackworms? you could have young ones. the planaria I'm aware of have a triangular head section, if you've a strong magnifier.

Nope, I only feed pellets and shrimp.
