Istarted this in two new forums this morning as I can't get any answers or help. What kind of parasite is small orange in color highly active and while swimming almost makes an "S" type pattern they have killed 4 grammodes and on small male dovii in under a week. Where could they have come from?

How big are they, are they segmented or smooth, are they round or flat, and are they tapered to points on both ends or blunt. Also have you seen then entering or leaving the fish and if so where? these are not something I have seen so I need to do a bit of digging.
In the mean time I would go ahead and use a broad spectrum antiparasitical that contains a mix of meds such as praziquantel, metronidazole, levamisole, diflubenzol, etc.
If you still have a dead fish do a necropsy and find out if the parasites are living in the muscles or organs.

I can tell you they were not segmented, they seemed to have tapered ends and were able to attach to the glass at both ends meaning the worm had something to grip at both front and back ends. The only thin I noticed on the dead fish were ulcers on the flanks and when I took the fish out they seemed to fall off of them. One grammode before death I did see the mouth was tore up pretty badly almost as if the skin inside the mouth was just falling off, and had two big white pimple like spots on either side of the head and only hours later he was dead...........after he died the male grammode died and then worms appeared EVERYWHERE!!!!!

I will get you guys one kind of crappy pic of the worms in a little while. They are all dead now .........I think..... I used this med called paragon but it didn't work so I got coppersafe, and a product from Jungle the name escapes me right now, and added a little salt and cranked up the temp for 24 hours to 88F all seems well as of now I will probably do another dose next week after a 50% water change.

post a pic

first a pic from last night I circled the worms

This is what I noticed on my pleco today I don't htink he's going to make it either :(
It's actually coming out of his skin and moving quite a bit.

In this pic you can see dead worms in the gravel this gravel was just cleaned early last week

Hope that helps somewhat

The pleco is extremely bloated ..........this sucks I have never in all my years of being a hobbyist ever encountered a parasite problem like this I keep up on my water changes don't feed live foods and all of the sudden BAM!!!! tragedy strikes. Not only the worms but cone shell snails to in two of my tanks :swear:

At least you dont have ewurms...I hear those have been terrible to get rid of. Some mebers have been hoping to get rid of ewurm for over a month!

They look like one of the many parasitical nematodes, don't know which kind. I have never seen these before. One problem with these is that some types can live for years inside the tissues of fish then go through a population explosion, When the host dies the parasites seek new hosts, Both exit wounds and entry points often get infected and they also can damaged organs. I would isolate the pleco if you can and remedicate. I would also thoroughly clean the tank and gravel then remedicate the tank, read the package of the meds first as some say wait 3 day or a week before treating again. At least you know the meds are killing the parasites.
