Hello everyone…
I had a question about the good old “Earthworm”.

Do you use them?

For what type of fish?

How often is the feeding?

How are they prepared (I mean can you just rinse them off and toss them in the tank)?

Do you have any pics of the feeding?

I don’t want to start a worm culture just yet so I was going to go to my local hardware garden section or a garden supply store and buy a container of worms. Are these worms safe to feed to our fish? I wanted to feed them to my EBJD.

Thanks
Don

I use them every other day with my Cichla Orinocensis. I just get them out of my yard and rinse them off...throw em in and thats that. Cheap and easy way to feed em!

i've heard of people giving them to large cichlids, oscars and such. rinse off and drop in i believe

my cousin feeds them to a perch that he caught, alot closer to natural diet than flakes and pellets

You can feed them to most carnivores. If the fish are smaller you can chop them up and spot feed (bit too messy just to dump it all in!)

I used to feed them to my senegal bichirs. I just rinsed them off. My smaller bichir just got a little piece and then I would feed the bigger piece to my other bichir. A couple of times I fed small pieces to my gouramis for a treat.

I stopped feeding the european nightcrawlers when I noticed weird growths on their undersides. I've kept redworms in the past and never noticed anything like this with them. I bought these from a bait store. Once things calm down I might try ordering some new ones online.

Yes dont worry about feeding theese to your fish. They are perfect and are easy to catch. Just rinse them off and throw them in like everyone else said. I use them for my Oscars and Jack Dempsey and alot of my other fish.

If it is possible the ground source it is coming from is treated with any chemicals, or possibly contaminated, I would be very worried

I've always fed earthworms to my Oscars. My Eartheater likes them, too. I get them at Walmart in tubs in the fishing supply dept. I always liked this picture of one of my Oscars when she was a baby with 'her' worm. She was about 4" here & hiding in the back so the other Oscar wouldn't see her and take it :-)

I just recently started feeding them to my O. he loves'em. I was at walmart's sporting goods section, and saw them, so I bought them.

24 come to a pack. I fed the last one today.

one usually fills my oscar up for quite a while. I won't feed any more than one every other day in the future, though. they make my O picky.
