Hey guys:

Just curious, what is the difference in getting dew worms from a local pet store versus getting them from a bait shop who sales worms for fishing. I have been getting worms from a bait shop that are labled good canadian night crawlers, they are good big ones, and when i feed them to the ray, he absolutley loves them.

The reason i am asking, is my freind who owns a pet store sales worms that get says he gets from a breeder of worms and they are good ones to feed rays. I cant always get into town to get them so i have been using the local bait shop here in our little town to feed him.

I would think its ok to feed these ones to him, i know he loves them.

Any thoughts??

I read on here that you should not feed worms from anywhere that pesticides may have been used in the last 5 years!!!!

I have been thinking of buying a wormery to get rid of my composting but I do not know if it will produce enough worms to keep up

Bait stores carry worms from worm farms, I don't think there are any pesticides in there. You can feed both dew worms or crawlers, its basically up to you, but the crawlers are bigger in size so I usually stick with that.

Yeah im sure these worms come from a wormory, the container is printed on top, saying 12 Canadian Night Crawlers a product of canada, so i am sure the bait shop gets them shipped in. They are big and juicy for the rays and he loves them.

Yeah, I saw a program on wormerys and it seems like quite big business, I think if you buy from a good bait store you should be fine....I wouldnt take them from farmers field though!

Go with the red wigglers.

Easy to cultivate, easy to keep. They breed like crazy!

Just keep em in an 18 gallon tub with some peat and they spread like crazy.
