fishtankstand.jpgHi guys, I need some more advice. As some of you may know I recently got two 65 gallon tanks that sit one on top of the other on an iron stand. They are in my living room and are doing well....my issue, on the top tank I noticed that the center brace on the tank isnt touching the stand. It isnt just a little gap, its a few millimeters. You can clearly see the gap in the picture. I called a LFS that also delivers and sets up tanks and asked the worker if it would be alright the way it is. He said that as long as the tank is perfectly level and all four corners are touching I need not worry. Some other forums also have people with this same issue. It seems pretty common...but what do I do? Leave it, get styrofoam and try to level it out as best I can...what are my options, whats best? The couple that had the tank prior to me had it for 4 years, and the bowing of the stand didnt happen from me taking it from their house to mine, so it must have been set up like this. Thanks in advance for your guys' advice again:]

hmmm... my only advice in a case like this, and perhaps the best advice, is to do what makes you feel a peace of mind. If that's placing some sort of spacer to level things off, then I say go for it.

I would do styrofoam

Hello; For what it is worth there was a post some time back with a picture of some filled large tanks resting only on the ends on stacks of blocks.
It may be that you do not have a serious issue, but as already stated do what makes you comfortable.

I have used iron stands for many decades. I have placed a sheet of plywood between the standand the bottom of my tanks quite often and have placed tanks directly on a stand.
My feeling is that it is always best to have a tank evenly supported if possible. I am sure that there has been some small variation from time to time but I do not recall ever having a visible gap such as you picture..
It may be that if the ends of the stand are fairly true and do not induce any twist to the tank, that you are less likely to have an issue.

I have not tried foam sheets myself, but the notion seems sound and I have read several posts where members talk about using them with success.

I got rid of my iron stand too bc its not stable along w/ the gap. As long as the four corners of ur tanking is sitting on the stand.

I built a wood stand and theres still a lil gap.
