I'm becoming increasingly worried about our Aro. He doesn't seem to have as much interest in eating as he once did and he looks a little beaten up. I suspect our Oscar is picking on him. I've never seen it happen but I wouldn't put it past him. We have another tank that he would be comfortable in until he gets a bit bigger but that worries me as well--would moving him be too stressful? Should I just wait it out and see what happens? I've been throwing around the idea of using some sort of barrier to separate the two so they can both stay in the same tank until the Aro gets a bit bigger and can defend himself a little better. Thoughts?

what type of aro do you have?
how big is the aro and the oscar?
what size tank are they in now?
what other tank mates are in the tank?

Heh, left out a lot of info didn't I? Go me!

The Aro is a silver. I'd say that he's around 8 inches long. The Oscar is about nine inches but older and a lot stronger and meaner than the Aro. The tank they are in now is a 300 gallon and their tank mates are a large chinese algae eater, an albino channel cat, a clown knife and a 4 line pictus cat. (oh, and the goldfish who was supposed to be food but got away and is now huge. we call him "Lucky"! :))

ide defo try to devide the tank. silvers are very weak fish, they can get beaten up very easly especially of an oscar thats bigger than it. even when the silver grows it would have a hard time looking after its self against and oscar there just to powerful if they want to do some damage.

the clown knife can also be abit aggressive is there any chance that it could be haveing ago as well?

if i was you ide remove the aro and let it settle in its own tank or with more peaceful fish. but this is just my opinion.

The clown knife was also a suspicion but it has some marks on it as well. Our Oscar is very *****y and always has been so I think it's him picking on them. He's an ******** sometimes.

You might want to put the oscar in a tank buy himself or with just a catfish.

I would put the O in your other tank since you'er more worried about stressing out the aro.

I also had to get rid of my O cuz he was a mean guy who didnt play nice with my silver aro too.

Id put the Oscar an the 4 line cat or the channel cat in a tank by themselves.
I myself stopped getting Oscars after I had raised 2-3 of each kind I could find, Plus I got sick of cleaning my tanks every week an a half.
