i know this has prolly been ask a ton of times but has anyone ever taken a bad bite from your beloved fish? im not talking about a nip from a con but a bite from a biggin. just wondering as i have recently aquirred some fish that have me a bit leary. one is a 15 inch buttikoferi, he trys to get me every time my hands go in. what kind of damage can he do? another is a silver aro who is almost 2 feet, he seems pretty docile though, ive done some tank work and he doesnt seem to bother me but looks like he could if he wanted to. and lastly for now my 12 inch dovii, he seems shy and doesnt bother me either when i do tank work. and then im raising up some trimac but they are only about 2 inches at most so ill worry about them later.
so what has bit you and what kind of damage did it do??

I was once bitten by my 18" Asian Snake Head. The bastard almost took of the end of my finger. I was luck. From that point on I always used a stick to move anything in the tank. I have a 16" male Dovii taht constantly attacks anything that gets near the tank, but he will not bite my hand when I am cleaning the tank. So I would just be carefull.

the buttikoferi is the one i know will bite, just wondering how much punch they pack without actually purposely finding out.

From one butti keeper to another, BLOOD can happen! There teeth may not seem very big, but watch out!

one of my older red devils that passed, drew blood once. ever since then, i'm very careful w/ water changes :)

it wasn't a bite or on purpose, but I got poked nasty by my syno once when it fell on the floor. Drew blood and was STINGING

lol... Im waiting for my butti to grow up and turn into a real monster.. Atm he's about 5" and rather thick. Every now and then I give him some live feeders (Zebra Danio usually) and since they're so fast he can only catch them at night but he goes nuts on them during the day makes him much more aggressive and less prone to hiding (He's still in that "OMFG A SHADOW /HIDE" stage).

My 14" Dovii grabbed my index finger, fingertip once! Had a slice from a canine tooth about a half inch long. Felt like an electric shock when he grabbed me! Bled really well too!! ;) LOL!!
