I'm so taken back but I've lost 7 fish out of my African tank so since Friday.

The ick didn't even show till Friday when two cats were acting weird. Then one by one cichlids began dropping.

I'm at 84 deg And dosing as I should. But this pesky outbreak is really stressing me out. The second I saw the first signs Friday night I did a 75% water change in substrate cleaning.

It looked as if some point there was also a fungus infection brewing probably from the added stress there was a yellowing on some of the fish and it looked like a lot of the slime coat was wearing away.

Any suggestion past the obvious treatments?

Thanks crossing fingers I don't loose any more fish.

just the basics always worked for me and should clear in a few days as the high heat makes it hard for ich to reproduce. heat salt O2 maybe some stress or slime coat stuff has always worked magic. GL

Are you sure it isn't velvet?

No I'm not sure. It to the eye looked like ich. But a few fish suffered worse than others. My one syno started to get yellowish after the ick spots, Or what I think to be Ick spots. Some dead fish looked like the fins was deteriorating and slim coat was suffering. Mind you this is so sudden, I do weekly 50% changes and am on top of my tanks, hence my dismay.

Turn off the lights and treat with Tetra parasite clear. It's great for this. The disscription is pointing me towards velvet. Keep the tank dark during the full course of treatment. Do another large WC before starting treatment and post updates of your progress so we can monitor treatment.

Ok ill pick it up after work. How big a wc? Standard fifty or go bigger?

Thanks ill update tomorrow or so when I can.

It's not a mini cycle I'm leaning toward velvet now possibly as well. if not just A danm resistant strain of Ick. Tank has been up for year plus.

50 to 75% just to get as much of the pathogens out of the water as possibile and give the meds a leg up.
