That tank will be extremely dark with black sand. I like the white pool filter sand. Not to mention white sand goes good with most backgrounds as well.
I have a couple tank with black and regular mixed, looks really cool. Only thing is the sand needs to be the same size, or the smaller color will go to the bottom and then your sand will be one color again
I feel that the white sand reflects quite a lot, and bleaches the colours of my cichlids; as its a corner tank, do you reckon the black would add depth front to back for the tank, or detract?

Think of it this way. You're making a black vaccuum. Anything with color is going to pop out tremendously, as well as make them feel quite secure if your painting the sides as well.
