Ok, I'm looking at a used 185 gallon aquarium, I think it includes a couple HOB filters and a strip light and heaters. what is a practical price I can offer this guy? Right now he's asking $600 which i think is crazy, but I need something I can come back with without low balling him horribly.

I can get a tank no stand for well under a thousand. Had I bought last year I could have gottena 220g with stand, lids, lights, brand new, at fish store, for a thousand dollars.
Actually not sure why I didn't buy it. Screw up on my part. :screwy:
Rather have drilled at this point anyway though.
 
No stand, just a glass tank, not drilled. I'm waiting to get more info on the tank to tell for sure what I want to offer. Thanks for the replies.
 
$600 sound like alot, if it had a stand, I would say it is an OK price.
 
I'd offer $400, maybe be willing to go to $450. If he wants it sold then he can either sell it to you or wait around for somebody to offer the 6.

I paid $400 for my 150 acrylic, drilled, with lights, covers, wet/dry, heaters, and a bunch of rock. You really shouldn't be paying much more than that for that tank, unless there's just no big tanks available where you are at all, which I know is a problem some places. Really they're hard to come by down here, I'd been looking for 6 months or so.

glasscages.com quoted me $180-190 bucks on their "special" 99 gallon tank

im only about 300 miles from their facility in charleston WV, i gave them a business shipping address with a forklift also, they said i could pick it up from the shipping truck in wytheville virginia for $80

their prices are great, and if they were local id have purchased a couple tanks already, but their shipping costs were way to high for me.

600 and no stand? No way. what are the dimensions? a used 125 complete setup is usually around 300-500 dollars, depending on the filters and other extras.
