Just recently got a 5-7" fire eel...very lively, isn't scared of senegal bichir nor 6" clownknife; isnt scared of me, hand feed him and everything.

Thinking about adding a 5-6" florida spotted gar; would that be ok?

I heard both things; they are predators will eat anything that can fit into their mouths or that they are very passive and laidback.

Any suggestions? Will be getting one from a MFK vendor here...

they will likely eat anything they can fit into their mouth/swallow, but it sounds like their size is comparable enough that the gar will leave the eel alone. make sure to keep the gar well-fed and you should be ok.

another thing to keep an eye on is the growth rate between the two fish...i have not kept fire eels before, but gars have a tremendous growth rate early on...you want to make sure the gar doesn't all of a sudden gain 2-3 inches on the eel as it may then attempt to make a meal of it--
