I have a 50g and i think that discus a cool. In the 50g there is 2 angel fish, a pictus catfish, a pleco, 2 goldfish, a black skirt tetra, 2 giant danios, and a red-tailed black shark. Would a discus be ok??:nilly::nilly::nilly::drool::drool::1zhelp::help2::tropicalf:feedback:

im not really sure about the combination of fish you have right now but anyways, a far as tank mates your fish are fine but what are your water parameters? tempt? and since im assuming youl be getting adult discus you wont really require regular water changing. remember discus are schooling fish and strive better in a group of atleast 5 or more..something to consider ;)

72F is way too cool for discus. They need to be in the 82 - 86F range, I keep my adults at about 84F.

Discus are shoaling fish and do best in groups of about 4 - 6. Any less than 4 and the dominant fish will most likely stress the submissive fish to death. Their aggression is best spread out among several individuals. They form a hierarchy. I always raise out groups of six.

Depending on the quality of the discus and the level of care you give them, adults can reach 5 - 7" from nose to base of tail. I usually grow out six in a bare-bottom 55 gallon and then move them to a larger tank once they hit 4 - 5" (sub-adults).

Goldfish are no good when mixed with tropical fish, IMO.

In a word, no. The fish you have now are not compatible with each other, and some of them certainly are not compatible with discus.

No.

Goldfish are way to active and will disturb them-as well as take all their food. It will also be to stuffed in their.
