Well, my 8" female JD decided my 125 was too small and she wanted to explore the world. I found her dried up on the other side of the room this morning dry as a board. I was thinking of adding a H. Carpintis to my tank in her place but having never owned one I am not sure if it would work out or not. My current stock is a male JD, an Oscar, a blood parrot, 5 Filament barbs and 4 Giant Danios as dithers. I was hoping to add an Escondido but have heard that it may be a bit of a nightmare and kill everything else in the tank. I am way overfiltered and do weekly 80% water changes so that should keep my nitrates in check. What are the odds that this would work out vs. turn into WWIII.

An escondido is H. carpintis...same thing, just a locale variant from the others out ther. Chariel, lahillas, vontehillo and hybrids of any aforementioned are also H. Carpintis.

Do a search on here for them. There are tons of threads. Ive had all and none were ever aggressive for me...at least nothing on par with other "aggressive" cichlids like midas, dovii etc. They were always more like the peace keepers.

I had a male carpintis that was tough, but hardly a terror . . . I don't see any obvious reasons that it would become a killer in your tank . . .
