I have 2 5-6" silvers, 2 5" gars, 3 small parrots, 2 4" tsn, 2 plecos. Would a jardini disrupt the tank or get along with everything else!!!??? I really want one and my lfs has one about 4" long for $60? Heard they can be very nasty and the silvers and blacks are more mellow! Everything now is great! Don't want to disrupt that. Think he'll be ok!?

i will eventually be way over crowded. all those fish you have get very very large especially the tsn. my tsn out grew my 75g in a matter of a few months. now in a 300g. it will also out grow that tank.

Jars are very aggressive, it will mangle the silvers. I made the mistake of adding a 12" Jardini in with my 32" silver and the jardini almost killed him!. I had to choose between the two types, I stick with silvers and blacks. Also the silvers will fight as they grow, unless you have ended up with a true pair.

The Jarini most likley would be a problem, they can be pretty mean. I'm sure someone out there has mixed them together with out a fish but I bet it is far and few between.

I know it wasn't your question but......I hope you have a huge aquarium, like several hundred or even thousand gallon. That is an awfull lot of fish you have there that are going to get huge in a fairly short amount of time. Very cool fish but man that's alot not to mention water changes and mega filtration.

What's you set up or your near future plans?

Right now its a 75. Have a 240 coming around christman and should be done the cycle with a few parrots and cichlids around February in time for these guys!! The 240 is 6 feet long 2 feet wide and 31" high. Don't see why this would not be adequate for the rest of their lives!? Or no? If it seems wrong after some time I'll either get a new one or give them to someone of onterest!?

Well your tiger shovelnose are going to get 30" plus.... Same for the silver aros.. And you did not list what kind of gars but they are going to get 3,4,5 feet and they cannot turn around very well.. In your 24" wide tank It would be impossible for a 26 " gar to turn around... A 240 may seem like a very big tank and indeed it is but not when you are keeping the type of fish you have. Do you know what kind of gars they are?

One is a florida and the other is a mossaic dwarf which I was told should no exceed 12"! I know the florida, tsn, and aros will get big! Some guy on here has a 250 gal with like 15 5-10lb fish in it. Not saying thats right but.... How often should I do my 25% water change??

You could probably keep the silver aro's in a 240 indefenetly. Depending on the gar specie, perhaps ther could stay too, some get real huge, you need to identify what kind you have. Parrots should be fine. I'd ditch the tiger shovel nose before they get real big. YOu can not keep them permietly in a 240, they will out grow it. I wouldn't wait untill they are huge to try to find them a new home. It is common that you can not give away large fish for free because no one else has a tank big enought either. Most local shops won't take them (i own an aquarium shop) because they know how hard it will be to sell and how expensive it will be to feed and maintain them. For get donating them to the local zoo, the zoo gets call all the time wanting to take oversize animals off the owners hands. Get a really big aquarium or consider doing some thinning down. A 240 may seem like a big aquarium but you will quickly realise that it isn't. Hate to be a bummer but this is years of experiance talking to you....

If you want to get big fish but will need to get rid of them before they get full size make the arrangements way in advance, large public aquariums often can fit in large fish, especially uncommon ones, but they need a lot of lead time, they can also often steer you to someone else if they can't take it. I am talking a year of planning time here, not a couple weeks.

In the mean time you will need to do a 40% water change every week if you want to keep your fish o.k.,more often if you dont have sufficient filtration.I was delayed on one of my big tanks and ended up doing a 25% water change every other day from an 8x2x2 just to keep them ticking over.Big fish need a big commitment.
