90g aquarium, 5" Oscar, 4" EBJD, Sailfin Pleco, 4.5" blood parrot, and 4 new 3" redtail botia. (I know ill need to rehome the botia eventually due to size).

I have plenty of filtration and aeration. Would adding a sump be worth the effort in terms of benefit to the fish, and if so, what would the minimum volume of said sump need to be to provide a benefit?

Thank you

Sumps are awesome at bio filtration so I'd say yes. Your pretty heavily stocked for a 90g (sub adult/adult sizes) so anything you can add would help. I believe the ratio is 15-20% of your tank volume. Size your pump at 5x your tank volume. I'd say 20g sump with a 450gph pump. You can make this cheap cheap. I like the plastic tour drawer trickle filter design. You can also throw your heater(s) in there so your fish won't screw with them. If it's not drilled you can buy or make your own overflow.
