I've recently upgraded my 125 gallon to a 292 gallon aquarium, I thought about getting a stingray, however I was told it wasn't compatible with my current fish. Now I'm looking into getting a juvenile silver arowana. But I still have the concern if it's compatible fish my fish, but I'm not willing to give any of them up. Im my tank I have a 9" Tiger Oscar, a 5" Black Oscar, a 7" Green Severum, a 5" Gold Severum, a 4" Firemouth, a 9" Delhezi Bichir, a 6" Senegal Bichir, 4 Rope Fish sizes ranging from 10-16", a 6" Common Pleco (he's not growing anymore, his last owner kept him in a 5 gallon and it stunted his growth, he has a bent tail and a large hump on his head), a 3" Royal? Pleco (I was told he was a lyretail, but I'm pretty sure it's a royal) and a 7" Fire Eel.
My main concern is my rope fish, they're long, but they are not very fat. I don't want them to be considered as a huge worm or something..
I'm also worried about the tank not being big enough, there's a chance the tank will be upgraded in a year or two. But I'm not guaranteeing it. Right now for filtration I have a Fluval FX5, I'll be getting another one once my LFS gets them in.
Also, what's the growth rate of a silver arowana? I know it's mostly based on how much you feed them and the variety of foods, so here's what I normally feed my fish; Either frozen silver sides, blood worms, large krill, muscles, raw fish, chopped shrimp, and live earthworms, and once every 30-60 days I'll give them ghost shrimp (of course I quarantine them for 4 weeks first). I feed them everyday, amounts vary as they grow. Could someone give me a rough guess?

Thanks. ^.^

Juvie arowana would get pummeled with that stock. I wouldn't recommend any thing under 14-15". What are the dimensions of your tank?

The dimensions are 92"(L)x30"(W)x25"(H), the Humane Society has a few 9 month old silver arowanas, I'm just waiting for them to get back to me with their size.
My fish are fairly friendly, I put my black oscar in at 2" a few months ago and he's just fine. I'd like my tank to mature a bit before I get one, I know they're fairly sensitive fish and I don't want one to end up dying. I did add my old gravel as well as my mature filter though. I didn't cycle it because I had to switch the tanks, and I had no where to keep my fish. I have been checking my ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels everyday, and everything seems to be fine.
I know arowanas have fairly big mouths, would it be safe to add an arowana that size? I don't want to risk losing any of my fish.

well... me I think once all your fish grow out it is going to be a tight squeeze I would add nothing....

Silver arowana grow rather quick, 1-1.5" per month. So even if you did start with a 7-8" aro it will be14-15" within 6 months, then putting some of your fish in danger of being eaten. IDK your fish or how friendly they are or are not. My advise is based on what could happen. If you are willing to risk the well being of the fish then have at it. If things go bad do you have away to separatly house the fish? You tank is at the bare minimum is size to house an adult silver arowana, this is assuming max growth at 30", but they can and do grow larger.

One other thing, your top needs to be well sealed and secured with weights to keep the aro from jumping out of the tank.

I'll leave it than. Like I said, I'm not risking losing any fish. I don't really like keeping fish in their minimum tank size anyway, bigger is almost always better.
Any suggestions on what else to put in there? Or should I just leave it and give my fish the room?
Thanks.

Touché :-)

You seem to love your existing stock enough .... So I wouldn't rock the boat...
I would definatley add that 2nd fx5 quick , as you bioload is quite high already. I was a bit shocked to hear I just soley one fx5 for filtration on tank that size.

Why not add a couple of datnoids?

i'd say 180 for jardini, and a tank with atleast a 30" depth for a silver....and stunting is bad!
