Would an Oscar work with a JD or am I asking for trouble?..

I have a placid 5 inch Geo Bras and a slightly stroppy 5 inch Jack Dempsey in a 5x2x2.. looking for ideas what would work with them??.
I really fancy an Oscar, my first ever fish was a Tiger O who was such a character. Is there any chance one would work with my two fish?.. if so what size would be best.. similar, bigger or smaller than mine?
Or any ideas what else might work??..

In a tank that size, it should work out just fine.

I would start with a similar size or smaller. Oscars grow so quick that a little one would be the same size in only a few months.
 
I agree I bough a 2" O and he shot upto 6 in what seemed like over night.
 
yeah in that size tank it shouldnt be any problem at all, and i agree with the others, i would get the O a bit smaller than the others because he will catch up in NO time GOOD LUCK
 
I see O's and Jd's together all the time, however, when I did it, the only fish my jd tried to kill was the oscar so I had to separate them. But like I said, I think its a pretty common combo so I would try it out.
 
That's great news thanks everyone for your advice.
In general does anyone find any differences in temperment between the Tiger O and Albino?.. can't decide which to go for.
Looking forward to O shopping this weekend, I love that "just about to buy a new fish" feeling .. lol

no difference in personality really, all Os are big puppy dogs lol and i wouldnt make my decision till i went to the store, you might decide on an albino and the see an awesome tiger with lots of red that comes right up to you, so i would just go to store and see which individual fish in the tanks you like best, GOOD LUCK and yes there is nothing like the getting a new fish excitement :)
 
i had an 8" electric blue jack dempsey with a blood red oscar they loved eachother faught everyone in my tank when they were together lol
 
Have you set up a QT tank yet?
