Since Hoplo cats are an Amazonian soft water species (pH 7 and below), and Convicts prefer the harder, higher pH waters in Central America (pH around 8) water parameters alone, make this a less than ideal combintion.
It may depend which species we are talking. The drab Hoplosternum littorale are highly invasive in southern FL all over its hard and even light brackish water.
