I may finally be getting a monster tank, ten feet long and thirty inches wide and was wondering if this would comfortably accomodate a redtail.

My personal preference would be to have a 4ft wide tank for a RTC, but that's my personal preference. I think that's a good footprint for a large catfish. The only problem is that the RTC should be able to someday obtain a size as large or larger than the width of the tank.

I agree. A monster tank isn't really as nice when your fish still can't turn around in it.

I would recommend that you pass. I have a 10' x 4' and I find it hard to imagine a huge rtc in there. Once he outgrows the tank then you have the issue of how to move such a large fish.

Yeah and could you imagine getting a 3'+ RTC out of those top holes in that 750 they are not that big.

If the top was open then it's not as bad./

Well that's about what I suspected and this tank is probably the biggest that I could get into my home in which case I will probably never own a redtail. The Phracto is a dream cat but I would'nt want it to eventually be cramped for space. If I do get this tank I will stick with the 'lesser' catfish.

Got a bunch of big cats in m 8'x4'x30" (lxwxh), and they are just about 2 years old and between 27-32" long. This tank has always been an intermediate step, as at least 6' wide is necessary for them to be comfortable as adult. I do not see putting these fish in anything smaller than a 14'x6' footprint.

Yeah, that's outta my league at least for the forseeable future.....BTW,did you rent that truck that you brought the 600 home in?
