I found a Florida gar that's eating pellets. It's about 12-14" long and has been living with koi for about a year. I've been tossing around the idea of adding it to my 265. The current stock is 1 28ish" silver aro, a 14-15" oscar, 15" lima shovelnose, and a 20" CK. All of my fish are currently eating pellets, so I'd like to add the gar if it wouldn't be a problem. What are your thoughts?

i say go for it.... would be a awesome addition to the tank....

hmmm i would gove it a shot, i mean it can go either way, hard to say, do your fish seem agressive. bc my jar isnt like most jar i have had b4 he is alot mellower. if he isnt to much i would go for it, post pic if you do

The fish in this tank are really laid back. I wouldn't even try it with my Jar. Anything that gets my my jars face is toast lol.

go for it.... gars are great... i wouldnt trade my t gars for anything and plan on more gars in near future....

DO IT!

Get it Levi. That would be an awesome fish for your tank.

if you trust that the tankmates wont wreck it then go for it...the oscar would be my only real concern. do you have a possible backup tank in case things get ugly?

I have an empty 90 bowfront if things get nasty. The oscar has calmed down in it's old age, so I'm not too worried about it. My biggest concern is the silver "tasting" it. It likes to nip things to determine if it's food or not. I'm hoping at this size that it wont be an issue. No matter what, I'll make sure to feed them well before I add it, and keep an eye on it after if I decide to make the addition.
