Would it be safe to put a Koi fish inside my sump? Its a long 50 gallon Rubbermaid plastic tub and it has a lot of space. The Koi is nipping on my other fish in my long 50g. So i was thinking of placing it in there.

Would it be safe? I was told that goldfish let out a certain substance that can kill tropical fish. I forgot the name of it.

why would you have a koi in a 50 gallon? do you know how big they get?

Yes I do know How big they get. Im not gonna have this setup forever. This is just temporary. My stand was built with 4x4 as the sides holding up the shelves which is now know were unnecessary. I would post the pictures but apparently I havent reached my 5 posts. The Koi I have now is 3" inches. The sump is 48". I just want to put it there to keep it away from the other fish. My question was; Do Koi have that chemical that release that can kill other fish?

You need a pond not a 50 gallon sump.

A pond would be recommended yes, but this fish is still small and i have open space inside my sump.
