My senegal jumped tank a few weeks ago, and the only occupants are now a lone convict baby feeder and a Ctenopoma. The Ctenopoma was always intended as just a filler fish to add movement to the top, and I'm not sure if I want to keep him in the tank. I'm also currently in the process of raising marbled crayfish(separate tank), as they were intended to breed(or clone) feeders for my senegal.
I'm starting to wonder if I should keep doing a solo aggressive fish tank, or move over to a community tank. A 40 breeder really isn't large enough to keep a true monster, and I am playing with the idea of getting a shoal of pygmy cories, and keeping something that will be relatively active but not aggressive. Anyone have any suggestions? Was considering keeping a wolf fish, but I'm really tired of keeping fish that are basically aquatic logs(I've kept axolotls).
Tank is relatively well planted with water wisteria, and has pothos/peace lilly roots hanging from the top to provide a decent amount of cover.
Has anyone switched from keeping only a few aggressive fish to a community tank, and did you enjoy the switch? I'm thinking I would enjoy having multiple fish that are relatively more active, but also really enjoy keeping a "wet pet".
