I'm thinking of getting into Madagascans, particularly Menarambos. I know my biggest tank, a 180g , would probably be their home. But if I were to try to mix them with 4 gold severums, a flagtail prochilodus, and a large arowana, would that be a nice community. Or should I worry that the pinstripes and their teeth would do damage to to the other fish or are they mostly aggressive to conspecifics?

Any input would be appreciated.:headbang2

Should be fine. They can get a little nippy but not bad. They actually seem to do well with some of the SA cichlids. I have been keeping Maculatus with severums, geo's, a flagtail and and black aro for a while with zero issues. Just make sure that you get enough menarambo to spread there aggression out. At least 7-8 of them seems to work best.

Alden, I kept the pair I had with rotkeil severums and Geophagus Altifrons with no problems. The only aggression was from the male damba towards the female.

Thanks Brian, man I never realized just how amazing a collection of fish you have kept and continue to keep until now. When you got your pinstripes, from Golden how much were they?

I dropped 150 on the pair. Had high hopes of breeding them, but that went down in flames when the female was killed.

Yeah, I'm sorry. I remember seeing hoe that male tore her to pieces. That stunk. But thanks for letting me know how much they cost at that size.

They have 40-50 of these guys in the back room at the Denver Zoo:eek: They were all about 4-5" in size.
