currently have 8" male jd 8" pleco, 4" female midas, 5" female salvini

may; pull the salvini out of the tank for being picked on by jd:

could just a midas, jd,and a pleco work?

midas, pleco?

midas will probably eventually kill the JD though since she is female, who know they may end up pairing up..... didnt you already post a thread asking this same thing?

It may work, it really depends on that certain fish. They are like people some will work good with others and some wont. Ill say give it a shot but just keep ur eyes open for the agression signs!!!!

sorry man i did but i asked a second question? what about a midas / pleco tank. Could that be a decent set up. I am torn about getting rid of the JD

the female is too small to cause trouble for the jd it will work they may even form a pair or she may go Laureena Bobbit when she out grows him though

yeah pleco would probably be ok though if i were you i would try and find a pleco that doesnt get as big as a common (like one that stays about a foot) there are some really nice colorful plecos out there that should be able to work with that tank, normally cichlids leave plecs alone for the most part (unless you get fish like mine, cant figure out who it is but one of my fish literally skinned one my rubber lips and the other one has to stay in hiding:screwy: hopefully this changes once he gets a little bigger) as for the JD though i would just wait it out and just watch them to make sure nobody is getting seriously bullied and dont really worry about it until a problem arises and make your decision then (thats what im doing with my tank, they are all juvies and im just going to remove the troublemakers as they arise)

I would disagree... Midas are too aggressive that i've seen Them pick on Plecos and they too die..

Midas are far too aggressive.. They pick on anything that gets in their way... I would highly advice no on Midas and pleco AND JD mix..

i hold hope for your female midas that she is much like mine. my stock are currently housed in a approx 65g (48x18x17 its bow fronted). however my midas is 9" and she is now the biggest fish in my 4ft tank and i believe it looks small for her so two cichlids her size would be a push hence my upgrade.

however i believe i got lucky with her temperament and im unsure as to what a JD is like to have so i dont know if it would start a fight with the midas. if they were smaller i would say try it but i believe you would begin to get the feeling like i have that a 4ft tank can look pretty cramped when you have one 9" fish in never mind 2 of them.
if the sal is getting picked on then i would remove it before it gets killed.
