If I added a Lima Shovelnose to my 125, would it eat my clown loaches? My smallest clown is about 2 inches. I have one LFS with 6 inch Limas, and another with 1 pretty small Lima. I know the general rule that fish, especially catfish, will eat whatever will fit in their mouth. But it seems like all the fish I have ever had leave my clown loaches alone. So what do you guys think?

I think Limas are "safer" - especially at such a small size as 6 inches. Clowns have that horn to defend themselves right?

Most preds will eat any fish they can catch. Loaches are fast, I doubt a Lima could catch one, unless it was sleeping.

not so sure, my limas are pretty much ambush. Doesn't matter how fast a fish is when it comes to an ambush predator. On the rare ocasion that they get a chance at live food, they swim verticle gain the trust of the fish that they are hunting, and bam strike with lightning speed, usually taking in rocks and bouncing their noses off the bottom. I have seen limas take pretty large prey items too.

Well, I got one. It is too small at this time to fit any of my loaches in its mouth. Hopefully, it will learn to co-exist with my loaches while it is small.

Ewurm, just please don't ban me if any of my Clown Loaches get eaten:D

yea.
