This question comes from a previous thread about local fish shops that blow air in a bag, thus filling it with less oxygen, before bagging the fish.

Would or have you ever asked a person blowing air into a bag to not do so? If you did what was their reaction?

Just kinda curious, thanks!

The store I go to, just grabs the bag really fast to trap any air in there...They never blow into the bags...I used to work for a lfs and we were told NOT to blow into them...This puts "toxic" air into the bags...of course I am talking about the air we breathe out...it does not have much oxygen in it...

I use the 'catching air' method for my customers, only if it is a short ride home. I used to blow in the bags, and never had any problem, but it's not a good practice in front of customers .. ;)

All of our LFS are full of morons, so I never buy fish nor pay attention to how they bag em.. They probably BLOW. :naughty:

For sure i would ask them not too. Especially if i had a long trip back home or if it were an expensive fish. If they refused or something i just wouldnt buy the fish.

human lungs are less then 30 percent efficent at removining oxygen from the air and into are bloodstream

is safe for rides up to multiple hours as long as the bag is a good size for the fish
