My silver at this point is about 8 inches long.I have him in a 125 gallon acrylic tank. I have been looking at one in my lfs and It looks to me like it is 7-8 inches as well...I have been debating whether to get it or not. I felt that it would be better to ask people on Monsterfishkeepers before doing anything.

I don't get your poll. Your thread is titled "Would silver Arowana be able to live with a Jardini?". I don't think that even one of them would be able to stay in a 125g long term.

The poll is "What does your arowana prefer as food?". Do you mean what does he prefer? Or what does he get? Because he probably prefers live feeders but he gets pellets.

What he likes better. And to you question about the 125 gallon tank long term, I believe it is possible to live in even 1 because it is 6ft long, 2ft high, and 20 inches in depth.

I wasn't trying to offend you. It's just that I was told I can't keep a Silver in my 265 gallon tank for life by everyone here....much less a tank less than half that size but GL.

Oh and btw, I calculate your tank measurements to be 150 gallons. Standard 125's are 18" wide....are you sure you gave the correct width?

honestly with arowanas its all trial and error. however it wud be much safer if the jhar was smaller than the silver cause they get aggro wen they reach the 12'' mark

In that case, I have a 150 gal then because one of my friends gave it to me as a birthday gift and had told me he bought it as a 125 gal. I measured the tank again and the measurements I had given you were correct. I understand that you were not trying to offend me my friend, but I just wanted to make it clear that people here have also told me that I should have a tank that is 6ft long for one arowana..I understand that there are others that disagree but everyone is different so I believe it is what a person thinks is right for their fish. In my opinion, your tank is enough to hold maybe 3-4 because my friend has 3 arowanas and 2 oscars in a 265 gal tank.

Yeah it's a 150. 72 x 20 x 24 = 34560/230 = 150 gallons.

I know what you mean about getting different opinions. You ask a question and get disagreements on what is right. I follow the advice of the people I trust and have respect for their fishkeeping. So I reiterate that I don't think I can keep a Silver Arowana for life comfortably in my 265. Therefore the 150 is even less adequate. I'm not here to judge you even if you think differently than myself. Just stating my .02, that's all:cheers:

Q: would silver arowana be able to live with a jardini? A: uuuuuhhhh...beefheart!!

 dont know what to think of your thread, but my opinion is that a jardini would shred up a silver. thats what happened when my buddy tried it.

and a 150 is on the small side for a silver. maybe a jardini for a while, but definately not for life. my friend keeps his jardini in a 135 that has almost the same footprint as yours.

the jar is 20"+ and can barely turn around in that tank, i feel bad for the fish. i couldnt imagine trying to stuff a silver in there also.
