I've 1 Polypterus senegalus (6") and 1 Marbled African Lungfish (10"), can these two fishes co-exist in the 3ft tank for now ? :shakehead
Or would it be too dangerous for polypterus to be munched by lungfish sooner than later?

I would give it a thumbs down, lungs are capable of eating fish much larger than themselves piece by pieace. Not all will right away but i dont feel its worth the risk to the other fish. They dont stand much of a chance at getting away in a tank that the lung can race the length of in seconds. I've tried that combo before with a Palmas and it went great for two weeks then i came home to a nearly tailless palmas with many lacerations. it did survive but they both lived solo after that. I also tried a gar with an annectens...same thing happened...and the lung was 2/3s the size of the gar.

That and i recall right a senegal that size is about right for snack food for the lung. If you choose to do this regardless of what the lung can do then keep the lungfish very very well fed and remember a true Marbled can get five foot plus and they will keep growing even if its barely noticeable.

Hi Jason. thanks for your advice.
I guess it's not advisable to have any tankmates in lungfish tank.

as long as you keep the lungfish fed, they should be alright. plus they are both from the same environment in Africa.

NO! Right now I have been extremely lucky to have my annectens together with my bichir. But chances are yours wont. And marbled lungfish grow way too huge. And by huge I mean 6ft+.

i think they are the biggest. which is cool cause i can only imagine how good a big one would look, but bad in that i cant imagine anyone housing one that big, just for that one fish
