I have had these with small above ground pools you get at walmart for the kids and will tell you my experience is they fail or quit alltogether within a month. If you had a good pump to run the filter part it would work fine.

Pool filters use cheap motoers that are not rated for 27/7 usage. Also I think the peated filter cartridge would become quickly clogged if used for aquarium.

Even a bigger "sand" filter would only be good for biological filtration.

you get what u pay for!!!! maybe save up and buy a fluval canister filter. it looks the same as what your looking at and there are ways to make the maintence of those less expensive like nylons for the mesh to hold the carbon. and u can go up to 6 months some times(not recomended but if its ur budget) with out servicing them
