Hi Everyone
I have a 45 gallon long tank (48" wide, 18" high, 12" deep (front to back) , I origionally asked about exodons, but i think a community tank may work out better, I was wondering if the following species composition would work

http://aqadvisor.com/AquStockImage....00909300113:,3:200909300153:,10:200909300248:

The breakdown is this:
6 boesemans rainbows
2 bolivian ram
2 vampire shrimp
2 kribensis
3 oto carfish
10 zebra danios

I plan on making my 20 gallon long into a sump to provide a lot of filtration, id also like to have some plants in the display tank, and include some pothos in my setup aswell.

For the kribs and the rams, i would like to have caves/hiding spots in each end of the tank so their territories are kept separate

does anyone have problems with a setup like this?

The only problem is your tank space, it's ok when they are young but when they are grow into adult it's become too crowded and those tiny danios might get bully to dead from larger tank mates.

You might get away with you listed stock but remove those danios would help you more with filtration. I would say try out with your listed stock but try to buy everything similar size, it's better for long term.

I think those fish in those quantity will be fine in a 45 gal for life. Can't comment on the vampire shrimps those, since I have no experience with them.

A sump isn't necessary for that stock level. A couple medium sized hob like AC70s and/or Emperor 280s will be fine.

Idk, imho sounds like too many rainbows to me. They like lots of swimming space, 6 adults, even if you got the right m/f ratio, (it could be chaos if you don't) would be cramped in there.
