So Im getting a standard 180 gallon to use as a growout.

It is going to be used for two years until I buy a 375 gallon tank (96x36x25''tall)

So my questions is, could I get away with having one 10'' black aro and two 10'' silvers for two years or would ist just become way to crowded?

I was also thinking in the 180 putting either three dats or three p-bass with the black arowana.

Just wondering because in the 375 Im going to have three arowanas with three dats or three p-bass.

Just want your opinion if this is overstocked.

Thanks

u might be able to get away with the black and silvers but if u add the dats and pbass u will be way over crowded

once u get the 375 i think it was then i suggest putting the 2 silvers in there with the three p bass then in the 180 keep the dats and black aro

just my 2 cents

Cool, But I dont meen keeping the p-bass and dats at the same time. I meen keeping P-bass OR dats with the aro's, not both.

I was hoping to do the trio of aro's with a trio of dats in the 375.

But for the 180 Im thinking either a single black arowana and a trio of dats, or a trio of arowanas and then once I get the 375 I would put the aro's into it and growout some dats to add later.

In two years the silvers are going to outgrow the black by a substantial margin. A good rule of thumb for all aros is either one or 6. When they reach about 14" or so they tend to become intollerant of others of their kind. Pbass get along well with aros in my expierance but I don't know about Dats.

Aros, for the most part do better in shallower tanks so a long or wide tank is a better choice than a tall.

I think I'll just do one Black arowana with three dats.

Then after I move them to a 375 I'll growout two silvers and if any fighting occurs once they are introduced, I'll seperate them.

And the 375 is 36 inches wide wich is 3 feet. It's 8 foott long and 2 feet tall.

The 180 is 6footx2footwidex2foot tall

Oops I misinterpreted the Tall at the end of your diamentions. That's definatly a nice aro tank. Like I said I know pbass go well with aros but I don't have a lot of expierance with Dat's niether my wife or I care for them very much.

I used to not look at dats that much, But Im starting to like them quite a bit.

But Im not sure. They are from asia so it would look unatural. So I will probably do P-bass.

I just wish blacks and silver grew at the same rate then I would keep two blacks and two silvers in ther 180 then growout some p-bass in there after they are moved to the 375.

But I'll just introduce the two silvers later. And like you suggested before for p-bass Im probably going to do one mono, one ocellaris, and one azul.

if you want to get dat get them as soon as your tank is ready thay grow reeaaalllllyyyyyyy slllloooooowwwwwww
and those aros might work but its hard to say i see two problems
1 the two silvers would probly fight later then probly take out the smaller black aro
2. thay gang up on it
i think aros don't like other aros and thay like diffren't aros more not saying it couldn't work you just might need to have more aros to do it and don't under estimate them that big mouth is pretty strong thay might not have teeth like a jardini but can still take a pretty good chomp

I think that's your best bet for the 180........then add the silvers to the 375 when you get it.......

I would not add silvers, just stick with the black. 1 perfect black aro will look better than 3 aros with battle scars. Also, why risk such a beautiful fish?

1 big black aro with some good sized dats would look awesome:D
