I know the thread title is so vague, sorry about that.

At some point down the road I'd like to get a 300 gallon tank so I could combine my multiple tanks into one big "community". The two "problem" fish I wonder about are my male flowerhorn and my jaguar. Right now the flowerhorn is 12", the jaguar(s, I'm growing a few out to see which is the best) are around 4" so this isn't happening any time soon.

So the main question is "can an adult male flowerhorn and an adult male jaguar coexist in a 300 gallon tank?"

Secondary questions are about tankmates. I'm keen on oscars and I was thinking about clown loaches. I also have a pleco in the mix. I'd like to grow out the jag and company all at once if possible.

My thought is that if I grow out a group together then they will be alright with one another in a larger tank. I'm afraid my flowerhorn (appropriately named "killer") would be the issue. I currently have him in a 75 and he "owns" about 3 feet of it. I've added other fish (not as large as he is but large enough to fend for themselves) and he won't let them in his territory but he'll let them be if they stay away. I, of course, removed the fish (unharmed but unhappy) I tried with "killer" because they didn't have enough space with just a foot-ish of area.

I think I know the answer to my question already but I'd like some opinions. Thanks in advance.

I would leave the flowerhorn in the 75.... As for the jag im sure you will be able to keep it with tankmates in a 300... But you have to remember each fish has its own personality...

Im setting up a brand new 300 in about three weeks. Residents will be a 4-5" jd, 4-5"midas, 4-5" motaguensis, 4" gt. Im also adding a few 4-5"plecos(L14, L75,L114) to grow out as well. The idea is to grow them up together at roughly the same size. All fish except the mota are currently residing in a 90 and all is well....... for now. Im ready for it to not work out at some point in the new tank, but i think my odds are going to be better to start small and let them grow together. But with cichlids you just never know. The flowerhorn might be better off staying in the 75 since hes already a foot long

With a particulalrly mellow and small FH, growing up with the jag it might just work. However, your FH is neither small nor mellow, nor growing up with the jag. Chances of success would be very minimal IMO.

An oscar, a jag, loaches and a pleco should be OK in a 300, with a few more fish besides. Although if the jag decides that he wants the whole 300 to himself, the oscar will be dead meat. That combo sounds like it is worth a go though.

When having a group of cichlids in a community setting it is always wise to grow them together and at a small size. They will then create a hierarchy. With that said you may still have to remove some either for over aggressiveness or just weak.
IMO keep the FH in the 75 gallon then start from scratch. Get the 300 gallon let it cycle and get a group of 4-6 cichlids.
If you are keen in Jaguar then the following would work-
Jaguar, Cuban, Kraussi, Pike Venny, Festae, Jack Dempsey, GT, Red Devil or Midas, Black Belt any of those could work. Im not saying all 9 but 4-6 would work. Or you could keep the Jag and get a bunch of Clown Loaches and Silver Dollars.
