I am planing out my monster 18x6x5 foot aquarium but i need some fish to go with it.
All of these fish will be less then 5 feet though.
Will this work?
10x silver dollars
2x tiger oscar
1x florida gar
1x cuban gar
2x long fin eels
1x senegal bichir
1x shovelnose catfish
1x red tail cat
2x asian arowana
2x leo stingray
1x peacock bass
2x fly river turtle
1x arapaima
1x lung fish

I know that senegal would get eaten by a lot of those and I think some could also eat the silver dollars

be careful the size you purchase and make sure the RTC and shovelnose are some of the smallest in the tank otherwise ur gonna have a bunch of expensive snacks. 100% no go on the senegals and honestly even at full size SDs are probably gonna get munched on, when that RTC gets 4' even the oscars are gonna be at risk and depending on the type of lungfish i wouldnt be shocked to see it get gulped down as well

the arapaima is not the fish that will stay under 5 ft long, most of them will grow to 6 ft in 2-3 years and keep growing slowly!

I agree that the RTC may cause problems down the line... just saw a thread today where some one lost an Aro to a RTC that was only 2" longer than that aro...

Silver dollars will probably be eaten or killed. The oscars might be eaten by the catfish depending on the size difference. Senegal will be eaten. Shovelnose and red tail are know for growing fast and trying to eat whatever they think can fit in their mouth. Fly river turtles are terrible tankmates for gars. The arapaima will outgrow the tank. The lungfish depending on species can be very bad with tankmates.

Lots of possible issues. I would concentrate on getting the tank first. Then deciding what fish you need and stocking around that fish.

Either do:
10x silver dollars
2x tiger oscar
2x asian arowana
2x leo stingray
1x peacock bass
1x South American lungfish or Australian lungfish (only one of these)
or
1x florida gar
1x cuban gar
2x leo stingray
1x South American lungfish or Australian lungfish (only one of these)

The mentioned catfishes will not work out long term; same goes for the arapaima, longfin eels, and the bichir. The turtles will pick on the fishes, so they're a very poor choice. Otherwise, go with one of the two stock lists that I suggested and get more of the fishes mentioned in those lists but do not mix and match fishes from both lists; you'll get very poor results (e.g. fighting, stress, injuries, death) if you try to mix some of those fishes from the two lists together.
