I've all but talked myself out of this now but I'm still interested what experienced arowana keepers thought of this idea.

A little back ground info: I'm hoping to have a much better job shortly which would enable a house move. New house = more space = larger tanks. I've just bought another tank, a 33usg as I don't have the space for a larger one. When I was buying the tank I noticed they had some 2 inch silvers for sale which got me thinking and resulted in three hours of reading , hence the post. I was interested to learn about growth rates and tank specs to keep these fish, as the tank was far too small to keep one in for a long period of time.

The plan was to raise one little guy in the 33 with a view to moving it in to a new 220-300usg depending on space of house not yet acquired, hence why I was interested in the growth rates. After reading and reading the growth rates seem to be between 1inch and 1.5inch per month at this size, and general opinion seems to be to allow enough space so that the fish should have at least 3 times it's own length to swim in the tank. That would give a 2 inch fish only enough room to last out 3-4 months in that tank until it needed an upgrade. I figured that if I got the job I would need about 6 months or so to arrange the house move, followed by another month maybe 2 to source and setup the other tank which would be 4 months later than the fish required.

I was going to ask about how long the cross over between a new tank being needed/risking the fishes health but if it came to that I could put it the 110g with our giant gourami, I know that Koji keeps ggs and aros together with success but again I was concerned about the increased bioload in that tank if I added it.

In the end I decided that it there are too many variables involved if i get the job that is, so I've all but abandoned the idea.

I just wanted to post the thought process I went through to come to this conclusion and to ask the question, if all had gone to plan would it have worked?

Thanks for reading

Definetly a good decision, aros just grow so darn fast.

Thank you for the feed back , I'd already made my mind up that it could all go wrong
I appreciate the comment :)
