I am running 3 Emperor 400 for biowheel and mech filtration in my 12gl tank. My fish are starting to get bigger, they were all babies when I bought them. I am looking to add a canister filter with more GPH than my HOB. I have an old Fluval 404 that I can setup. Would that be sufficent or should I jump on the FX5 bandwagon?

Did you mean 12 gallons or is that a misprint?

It would work, but jump on the FX5 bandwagon. Mine is the best thing that I have purchased since starting the hobby. Just make sure you pay the sub 200 dollar price. I wouldn't pay the 300 list price on it.

Exactly. It is a tremendous filter. Very cool and easy to use. Plus tons of flow and mechanical filtration.

Wow when I first saw this I thought, "now THAT is overfiltration". Sounds like a good set up. I am considering the fx-5 with all I hear about it. What kind of electric does it use (consumption wise). not ac or dc.

The Fluval FX5 consumes 50 watts :)

Jump on the FX5 train :)
