As some of you might remember, I'm planning on building a glassless plywood tank for my turtles. The outer dimensions will be 130" x 42" x ~44". Still not completely sure on height. Also, keep in mind that the water will be 7" or so below the height so the turtles can't climb out. Instead of having outer 2x4s sticking out from the walls, I was hoping on sticking 2x6s flat against the walls. I'd probably have a bottom, top and middle board going along the length, and have a vertical one every couple feet. I want to do it this way because it's fairly narrow and because I feel it would look nicer.
I was also hoping on not having a top brace in the middle. To help prevent escapes, I already plan on having 2x4s as a euro brace on the inside along the top. This would look nicer with the open top, and I planned on putting ramps in the back along the room's wall. A center brace would get in the way of that.
The tank will just be flat on the floor so the bottom wood shouldn't need bracing underneath, and I decided on pond liner (EPDM 45 mil) so it won't have fiberglass helping strengthen it.
