I have a 55gal brackish with a sand bottom and I am having a terrible time keeping my filter unpluged. I have a old swimming pool filter and was wondering if it would work to filter a fish tank. Has anyone on here ever tried it or can it even be done?

Is it alluminum? I'm not sure it could handle the salt. Put a sponge over your intake tube & the sand won't get into yiur filter. I believe Hagen makes one that should fit--it's made to go on the end of a powerhead.

depending on the type yes and no most need to be run at minimum of 10'000lph or 2600 gph. and aso no swimming pool filter i know does biofiltration so short answer is no, mechanical filtrtion yes but most fish can handle that sort of current in such a small tank
