Ok so my plan is this.
I have a 55g with 2 aquaclear 110s ( 1000GPH ). It is in the process of being heavily planted, the tank is 55g ( 57 to be exact, including filters ). I have a high pH, i'd rather not tamper with it too much but whatever.
The tank is still cycling.
I want a fish that has a ton of personality, favorably big and rather slow growing.
My main choice is a gold or silver datnoid, whichever.
But other possibilities:
Midas ( will destroy plants and tankmates )
RD ( above )
GT ( more forgiving with smaller tank mates ( giant danios etc ) and more forgiving with plants )
Flowerhorn ( see midas )
Datnoid ( good with others until big, which takes a long time )
some unrealistic possibilities:
P. natteri ( 6-7 ) (good with plants)
Odo or haitensis
With the datnoid possibility, i would grow him/her/them out to 12" or so and sell them because there is big demand for them at that size. If i have the money and space, i would buy a several hundred gallon tank and get pbass, rays and add the datnoid(s) to that tank.
Suggestions!!!!!!!!!!
