I have a 125 gallon tank with 6 angelfish, 2 angel Rams, and 3 swordtails. Plus multiple bottom feeding fish such as spotted Raphael's, plecos, bichirs, cory cats and synodontis catfish. I would really like to get a discus, or a few for my tank. The tank is mature and has a n eheim professional 3 filter. So please put your thoughts in to see if this would work!

I'm going to try keeping Discus and Angels together soon so I can't say anything from experience, but from what I've read, once those Angels start pairing up, they could be trouble.

OP - keeping discus and angels together is not uncommon. I'd be more worried about the cats. It's easy to keep discus alive, but their need good water to thrive.

I don't have any experience with discus, but I can guarantee those angelfish would beat the crap out of them.

Am I the only one that fails to see any logic in this?

Angels can be a bit nippy. Just watch the discus fins.

Never heard of it before.

Never heard of it before.

Is it better to keep mated pairs with Discus or a better m/f ratio of Angelfish?or does it even matter?

It's a good question and I don't know....I kept discus and angels together...nobody beat up on anybody....no fin nipping whatsoever.

The bottom feeders would be more of and issue than the angle fish. Discus like to graze so a lot of bottom activity would put them off.

The swordtails are a no no.. live bearers rasp at everything and that will include the discus slime coat... angels and discus thin the bottom feeders and you should be good to go
