quick question. would it be effective if i put ceramic rings in the return/last compartment of my sump together with my pump?

would it be as effective as i put ceramic rings in the other compartment?

i was told by a lfs guy that it would nt be that effective bcs of the lesser flow rate? but i dont know. what do u guys think? :)

doesnt matter, just be sure it cant be sucked into the pump. cant ever hurt having more bio media than you need.

just an idea, and one I may use myself when my new tank and sump arrive. .. if the area is supposedly ineffective because of the low flow, why not use some of the nitrate specific media that requires low flow. seachem do one and im sure there are others.

I have sponges and matrix all around my pump you cant move it without taking the media out. I dont see any issue theres space and any flow will do something. I dont see how there can be less flow near the pump? surely the suction effect from the pump sucking water in would create a current/flow of some sort? + water is constantly coming into the sump at the same rate?

I wouldn't waste my time. If I used biomedia after the bio-filtration chamber, I'd use it in an open-top tower of large diameter PVC with an airline entering at 4 points around the pipe. That way the aerated media acts as a degassing tower.
