I have had trouble trying to get my water crystal clear for ages now and its really started to bug me. Its almost like it has a drop of milk in it so its slightly white in colour? I thought i had a algae boom so i turned off my halides and now i just run 2 x tubes for 8 hours a day.
Tank is 5x2x2 filtered with a fluval fx5 filled with biomax (i put in some polishing pads today) and a fluval 305 which i have put filter floss in which i am changing every day? I do 2 water changes a week which are between 40 to 60%
Tank has been running for approx 5 months and its only tank mates are 2 motoro rays which are approx 7 to 8 inches across and i feed them twice a day.
Would UV help me out any? Help as its doing my head in, I have never had this problem in any of my tanks before?

I use an in-tank uv on all three of my tanks and absolutely love them. Started using one in my old 55 when I had an algae bloom, it cleared the water up almost overnight, after I had spent weeks doing cleanings and water changes.

I have not noted any ill affect's on any of my stock so I will continue to use them and enjoy the crispy water as long as I keep fish.

I would also recomend using purigen to help with clarity. I switched some of my filter media out for it and it made what I thought was clear water even clearer.

Definitely recommend UV for clearing water and for ridding the water of pathogens. Be sure to put a pump with the correct gph to power the UV. Each UV should have either on the box or an insert listing what the max gph should be for level 1 through 3 sterilization. I also second the post about using Purigen...Incredible stuff!!! Good luck!

BEST INVESTMENT after Twenty yrs w/o I would now never set up a tank without one TRUAQUA CHECKOUT intank uv

Go for it if you can afford it. Everyone I know who used them absolutely loved them.

Had one for a little over a year in my show tank and about 6 months in my other 2, haven't noticed any ill affects, I would say you're safe.
