This is the aforementioned 150 gallon tank I got for free. I have neglected to ask about this because I'm worried what the opinions will be. Would you use it?

NOOOOO

Carry it outside and fill it up all the way. My fish room is in the basement with a floor drain. If that tank were sitting on the floor I'd use it but not a chance anywhere else. I would scavenge the good glass for tops.

Well, Ive had it filled before, multiple times. No cracks or leaks. Still makes me worry. I got a quote from a local glass shop for 1/2" plate glass, just under 400$. Trying to decide if its worth it. A new 150 isnt cheap, seems like it would make the most sense to try and repair this tank, and maybe have the glass shop cut the bad side. Cut it down an inch, and maybe use it for a front of a plywood build.

I would buy that glass and replace the front. Get the damaged piece cut and build a bigger plywood tank.
Do you have any more piles of cash I can spend for you ?

This is a chip put in a 150 gallon tank back in the early 90s, about 5 years ago I moved, and gave the tank to a friend, it is still up and running.
That's not as bad.

I would wet sand that into a contoured blend to remove any possible hairline fissures
