I found a tank in the dumpster at work, so I grabbed it. It's a 15 gallon Pemco (you know, the metal-trimmed ones). It has a large crack on the bottom, but it has two panes, so the top pane is still perfect. I didn't know about putting the tanks in hot water to restore the seals plus I'm pretty sure they were all cracked and incomplete, anyway. Anyway, too late, so I cleaned it up really well and siliconed it up (someone had repaired it before w/ silicone). It's been holding water for 24 hours, but I'm worried that since the pieces of glass don't overlap that it will start leaking. Are my worries warranted or do you think I'll be okay? It's just going to be used as a hospital/quarantine tank, maybe a temporary growout.

Thanks.

Sure.If you did a good job sealing it up.You said the crack is covered with a pane of glass?I could seal that up and use it,15 g isnt a huge amount of water

I would! I think it would make a great little hospital/quarantine tank. Using it that way would be the only way for me because you wont be putting rocks or gravel in the bottom to stress the glass. Good find!

Thanks for all the input. I'm pretty sure it's not leaking yet, but after I get home, I'll put some newspaper underneath it to make sure. I still need to make a stand for it and a 20 high.
