so i have a guy that wants to trade me piranhas, i have macs, and he has 2 red bellies, my question is would you trade 2 for 2 on that? i mean, i am a red belly fan, but im not sure how fair up the trade would be? and would i be able to keep macs and red bellies together? he said the 2 red bellies he has are the size of his hand, roughly 7-8" and my macs are about 3.5-4.5" i am a little tired of the macs and in activity, and i was originally going to get a school of red bellies before i got the macs. so im at a loss. i guess the biggest factor right now to me is housing, if i can do the red bellies with the macs. only for a little while.

you mentioned you were tired of their inactivity, well getting 2 more red bellies might be the same result of inactivity. I will highly suggest getting a shoal of Caribe Pygos. They are not shy to their owners and are considered one of the meanest types of piranhas. Although a bit pricey, when baby caribes are in season, they sell for about $25 each. But from experience very well worth it.
well let me not say inactivity... but just looking for something different. i knew the lack of inactivity when i got piranhas, just couldn't get the piranhas i wanted cause they didn't have em' now that i have the chance i want to jump on it.
i think that's too big of a size difference if his reds are truely 8 inches and your macs are truely 4 inches
in my opinion, i wouldn't trade 2 for 2 for it. To me Macs are less common and more valuable. As far as mixing them together, I wouldn't recommend it either. Like the other members said, they size difference is just too much. out of curiosity what size tank is it?
yah my rbp did nothing but eat nothing at all actually had a peacock bass with them that made the tank a little active. they never bothered the peacock
the tank they are in now is a 75, until i get my tank build going, and they will be moved into my 125.
