Hi guys...

I just looked at one of my goldfish, and I saw a pretty big red spot on his side. His scales are looking a bit "ruffled"(but not sticking out) on that area.

I think it may be an infected abrasion, possibly caused by my pleco.

Right now he's in quarantine, treated with a teaspoon of salt and a dose of Melafix. There's also an airbubble in quarantine. I've removed carbon and dosed the main tank as well.

The parameters on both tanks are within normal ranges for a cycled tank, so I know it's nothing out of whack there.

I don't have pictures right now, cause its just happening. I just wanted to get some advice on what to do, if there's anything else that can be done.

I really don't want to lose him.:nilly::cry:

Keep up with the water changes, salt, etc and he should be fine. BTW, it's not a good idea to keep plecos with fancy goldies. It's pretty common for the plecos to develop a taste for the slime coats on the slow-moving goldies.

Here's some pis for further reference

The yellow spot that shows up is actually white, and just a reflection.

The white spots near the spine aren't ich, its a reflection from the light.

plecos are fine to keep with goldfish.. just not common plecos..

bristlenoses do a fine job, and are safe with fancy goldfish.
