this is a juvi cichla temensis about 7 inches long, he is missing a pectoral fin and has been sporting a wound in his gill cover for quite some time now. the wound is about 4 months old now and it never heals. i tried adding salt into my tankwater but the wound still persists. Aside from the wound my fish is very healthy and is adjusted to its deformity (missing one pectoral fin) im just kinda concerned with his wound because its stil not healing, any advice guys?

first of all, what happened to this poor guy?? Secondly -4 months with no regeneration of tissue? You may be dealing with a persistant secondary infection of the would, or, depending on what it is housed with, the tank mates may be picking on him at his injury site - sad, but happens all the time. Is there any way you can get a really clear shot of the wound close up?? I know it's hard, but I am curious to see clear detail of what this guy is suffering! It looks pretty bad though, and I would bet he is suffering a re-occuring infection of the area.

im looking toward VERY high nitrate levels

high nitrate level can delay or even hault the healing process
