wounded ray seeks treatment??

my male beat up my female and I was wondering what would be the best way to treat her? the wounds don't seem to be healing so I am going to try salt and was wondering if melafix was safe? what other meds would work that are ray safe? she has the marks on both sides.

just turn up the temp to 86 deg F and add 3lb per 100 gallons of salt..... and do you have any plecos in the tank.... that looks more like a pleco bite

Salts and clean water as mentioned above.
Also, if you start to see white fuzzy looking fungus on the wounds Melafix does work great for me and just use as directed.

BTW, my male started biting my female in the same location as yours, then they started breeding soon after that---------they've had 3 litters so far.

how often do you add salt ?

I've never added salt until now and I have had rays for a couple years.

the salt just helps keep it from getting infected

Salt also makes water heavier which contains more oxygen and makes it easier for them to breath
