Wow! Endli Cannibalism...

I just bought 5 baby endlies!!! 1.5"- 2" in size. I feed them twice a day, broken massivore and shrimp... I come downstairs to deliver the 2nd helping of shrimp today and my largest endli has the tail of my 2nd largest endli sticking out of his mouth:irked:... they're practically the same size! How do you swallow something that's the same size as you?

Tell that to gulper owners. Gulper ate a 12'' arowana.
 
well on the upside it shouldn't be hungry for a cpl days.To answer your question
they compress the body and use a set of teeth you don't know about the grind it up
 
Gular plates and pharyngeal teeth come in handy when you swallow large prey almost the size of yourself.
 
most wont eat each other, but there are a few that will eat things of surprising sizes.
 
If you compare baby endli to adult endli, baby endlis are more flexible as they are a lot more softer. Plus it's a common sight to see baby bichirs as a cannibal. Once they hit 4-5 inches they start losing their cannibalism attitude, but will still eat smaller bichirs. This is behavior of survival of the fittest and most all baby fish do this to their siblings.
