Hey guys, I have a gar and a rtc, its a spotted gar, or so it was sold... So i put both of these in my community 20 gal with guppies etc to grow big enough to survive my oscars... the gar is about 5 inches and about as thick as a pencil and the rtc is about 3.5-4 inches. which one is most likey to have eaten a neon tetra and a guppy? Also the last guppy and a large mollie both has ragged fins, is that from the gaR? theyve never had it before.. I suspect the gars done this but the guppy was fatter than the gars body? who's the culprit? :nilly::nilly:

Both the gar and the RTC would do that; those fishes that you put them with are pretty easy prey for them. Also, I wouldn't put the gar with your oscars at any point in time; it will most likely get bullied to death. It may or may not work out with the RTC depending on the RTC's growth rate and temperament; you'll have to watch them pretty closely since RTC's can swallow surprisingly large fishes in relation to their body size.

^ hes just trying to say that oscar arent recomended tankmates for gars no matter what the size is.... That being said and true I have my smaller oscar with a bigger gar and they are totally fine together oscar never even threatens either of my gars (florida, spotted).
